Reviews for Croc 2 in Action for PC-Personal Computer ( PC ) :
It's been nearly four years since the release of the original Croc. Just two years ago, the sequel, Croc 2, was released. I was a little suspicious when I saw it. Sure, sequels get alot of hype but always invariably turn out worse than their predesccesor. In the case of Croc 2, it is even better than the original Croc. But then (having owned both titles) Croc I wasn't an exciting game either.
It's a typical story. After Baron Dante's original death in the original, his pesky Dantinis mysteriously resurrect him. Now even more sadistic than before, Dante begins his reign of terror on the peaceful Gobbo Valley. Sigh. It's time again for Croc to save the day.
Croc 2 is a relic all beautified for todays games. Well, at least, if you have a 3D-Accelerator on hand. Croc 2 endows a system that has long sinced vanished, or at least emulates budget Nintendo 64 pieces. Available on both the Playstation and PC (that is a bad thing) it is more suited to a console than to a PC. I shall explain.
Croc 2 is basically a platform game. Search corridors, kill baddies, get keys.etc.etc. There is nothing wrong with type of game, but the genre is too exhausted. Console gamers have put up with torturous remake platformers which, thankfully, PC gamers have had substantially less of. Croc 2's hub based gaming and mid 90s style gaming is only to be expected. Considering it is aimed at the smaller ones.
Actually, this is the only platformer on any platformer in which I have completed the game 100%.
The game is organized into four different hubs with four different Gobbo tribes. They include the...can't remember the first village, Cossack Gobbos, Caveman Gobbos and Inca Gobbos. In each hub, there are different levels which you can enter. Levels are short and include environments such as caves, abandoned mines, mountains and forests. You must collect magical diamonds.etc. and find gobbo...Can't be bothered going on. You get the picture.
The 3D graphics will really stand out if you have a good 3D graphic drive. Croc will look 3 deminsional and so will everything else! I'm telling you, go update your graphics, it is worth it. The only reason I gave it a 4 is because and some times the camera is at weird angles, and Gameplay was the closest catagorie to detuct points.
The only setback. The sound, well, sucks. The music is okay but the jumping-on-top-of-someone sound is almost exactly like from Mario. The swimming has the classic bubble music, which is more of a distraction. The rock music at the end is cool though, which was good enough to make me give it a 2 instead of a 1.
